Growing Up in a Big Family: Memories of Mom’s Pregnancies

Hey everyone, Elizabeth here! Today, we wanted to share some heartwarming and funny memories from our family’s journey of growing up with so many pregnancies. It’s been quite a ride, and it’s great to reminisce about some of these moments.

If you want to hear the great stories and what each family member experienced during Mom’s Pregnancies, go ahead and watch the video below!

  1. Sibling Helpers and Responsibilities When Mom was pregnant, it was all hands on deck. With so many of us siblings, we had to step up and help out around the house. From changing diapers to preparing meals, we learned to be responsible and look out for each other.
  2. Food Cravings and Combinations Mom’s pregnancies came with unique food cravings. Some of us recall Mom’s funny combination of cravings during each pregnancy. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, refried beans, chicken nuggets, and grapefruit cups appeared as Mom’s go-to snacks. It was fascinating to see how her cravings changed from pregnancy to pregnancy.
  3. Sickness and Compassion Mom’s pregnancies also brought some challenging times, especially when she wasn’t feeling well. We all remember those instances when she was sick and still taking care of us. Some of the siblings even took on the role of little caregivers. We also had those who would carry around an ice cream bucket (yes, seriously) as if to show solidarity with her sickness. It was both endearing and amusing.
  4. Embracing New Beginnings Together: In our shared journey, we’ve been fortunate to witness captivating moments that remain etched in our memories. One such memory revolves around the anticipation of a new child. We remember the joy of expecting a new family member, the excitement of a fresh chapter, and the beauty of having a new life become a part of our group.
  5. Learning Independence With Mom’s hands often full during her pregnancies, many of us learned to become more independent early on. Whether it was helping with younger siblings, preparing food, or just taking care of ourselves, those experiences taught us valuable life skills that we continue to carry with us.
  6. Supporting Each Other While pregnancies had challenges, they also brought our family closer together. Whether it was the excitement of waiting for a new sibling or providing emotional support when Mom wasn’t feeling well, these shared experiences created lasting bonds among us. We all remember the camaraderie and teamwork that developed during these times.
  7. Reflecting on Growth The challenges and triumphs, the sickness and the support – they’ve all shaped us into the individuals we are today. We’ve learned compassion, responsibility, and gained a unique perspective on life and family.

So there you have it, a glimpse into our family’s pregnancies. It’s been an adventure filled with ups and downs but a journey we wouldn’t trade for anything. These memories remind us of how much we’ve grown and how far we’ve come together. As we create new memories, we’re grateful for the lessons and experiences that have shaped us as a family.
